100 Day Challenge – Pt. 3

A recap of days 21-30 of the Vibrant Badass 100 adventure. Let me know how you are doing with the prompts so far! Seventy more days to go! Excited to see all the adventures we can share over the next few months!

Day 21 – Find a hidden gem. There are a ton of underrated lovely places in the world that might be hard to find but are worth it when you do. Seek out one of those places for yourself and see what you encounter!

For me, that place was a Mexican restaurant in North Raleigh called Dos Taquitos with eclectic decor and a little train that brings you queso and dessert! My friend and I went for an early bday dinner and had a magical time! It has been open since 1991 which is the year I was born. 

Day 22 – Use your reward points. Or make a goal for how to use them. Whether you have airline miles or credit card points, find a way to use them or make a plan for how you want to use them in the future. 

My husband and I saved up points for our honeymoon! We were able to book our flights with reward miles and some of the hotel nights with credit card points!

Day 23 – Girls/guys night. Get the squad together. Plan a night and do whatever y’all want to do! I got some amazing ladies together for an early birthday celebration with Mexican food and Christmas bars! Think about your ideal girls night/guys night and make it happen!

Day 24 – Celebrate yourself. Whatever that means for you. It was my birthday so I definitely be celebrated! I want you do the same for you. Celebrate some recent small wins or accomplishments. Think about how far you have come! Pop some bubbly if you are into that. Cheers friends!

Day 25 – Be kind to a stranger. Kindness is free and contagious. ‘Tis the season of holiday magic which also means holiday stress. You never know what other people are going through and how much a kind gesture could mean to them. My husband taught me the 5 foot rule in the hospitality industry which is if you come within 5 feet of a guest, you should make eye contact and engage verbally. I like the translation of this into normal life where it isn’t required but still has a positive impact. 

As you go through your day, think of all the ways you can be nice to the people around you and spread good vibes. Smiles, compliments and small talk are my favorites for this one.

Day 26 – Intentionally be the best version of yourself. Think about what that means for you. Do a deep dive in your mind about what that best version of you looks like and do things that reflect that person. Don’t let outside expectations get in the way of this. If you aren’t feeling like you are at your best right now, be patient with yourself and take a small step in the direction you want to go. Try to be 1% better today. 

Day 27 – Savor the moment of being around natural beauty. Find somewhere cool. Take your time soaking up your surroundings, wherever you are. Breathe in, breathe out and connect with nature. 

Day 28 – Take time to rest. Slow down. This one was inspired by some sea turtles we saw on the beach chilling and napping. No matter how busy your life gets, make sure you are resting when you need to recharge. 

Day 29 – Support a local business. Shop small. Support the dreams of people in your community by buying from them. This could look like trying a locally owned restaurant. You could get some Christmas presents from new businesses or friends’ shops. Even without buying, you can tell other people about the local businesses you love!

Day 30 – Ask for recommendations. Find some magic. A fun way to find new things is by asking questions and fishing for recommendations. Some examples are listed below. You may follow up on the recs or you might save them for later but you will have a fun conversation and connect with other humans in the process.

  • Vacation – asking locals or uber drivers for things to do, places to see, foods to eat, can’t miss spots
  • Neighbors – specific needs like contractors, plumbers, car shops, restaurants
  • Friends/family – books, movies, recipes
  • Random – see someone with nice nails, ask about their nail salon. See a great outfit, ask where they got it.

On the other side of this is sharing your positive experiences with others! If you go to an amazing restaurant, tell your friends about it so they go too. Spread the good vibes of fun things to do with people around you.
