My husband and I went to Nashville last weekend for a little weekend getaway. It’s a nostalgic place for us on so many levels because it’s where we met. While we were there we stopped into a restaurant I used to work at called 5th & Taylor! I wanted to get some food, see if I still knew anyone and check out the vibe.
We got a few apps that I used to love that are still on the menu! This includes duck wings, beef tartare and bacon wrapped quail. We actually got two orders of quail because Brian wanted his own!
The restaurant was hopping on a Saturday night including a full patio! There were still a few people working who were there when I was! It was so fun to say hi and feel the nostalgia.

It got me thinking about all the things I didn’t know my life would hold when I was 25 and changing jobs for the first time as an adult.
25 year old me didn’t know…
The man she was dating was going to send pizza to her at work on Valentine’s Day because it was the craziest day of the year for a date night restaurant.

She would make friends that she would catch up with in later years all over the country.

How much she would learn about working in hospitality and dealing with hangry people and all the pieces it takes to keep a restaurant running. And how that would strengthen her relationship with her boyfriend because she understood his world more.

That boyfriend was going to propose with pizza after an extra long day at the restaurant with all their friends waiting for her to get done with work.

She would build a good inventory tracking system they used for years in the future.

She would transition reservation platforms for the restaurant and dip her toes into the world of learning software systems.
She would help the restaurant break their sales record on Valentine’s Day 2 years in a row.

She would move states 3 times in the next 8 years.

She would also move jobs 3 times in the next 8 years.

There’s a lot of things 25 year old me didn’t know but I know if she met 33 year old me, she would be super stoked to see her life.
I wonder what 33 year old doesn’t know yet. I’m excited to find out.
