Spring has arrived β and if you’ve felt a little restless lately, a little ready-for-something-new, a little like your soul has been pacing near the door waiting to get out? That’s not a coincidence. That’s biology. That’s the season working on you.
The Spring Equinox marks the moment when day and night are equal β a tipping point from dark to light, from stillness to movement, from rest to growth. And while January gets all the “new year, new you” hype, spring is honestly the more natural starting line. You’re not forcing fresh energy in the middle of winter anymore. The world is handing it to you.
So the question is: what do you do with it?
This is your practical guide to leaning into spring β not in a vague, manifesty way, but in a real, actually-do-this, feel-good-in-your-body kind of way. I’ve organized it through the lens of my book Let’s Be Less Stressed, because growth without stress relief is just hustle with better PR.
Let’s get into it. π±

πΏ NATURE: Get Outside and Actually Feel It
The single easiest thing you can do this season is go outside more. Not as a workout. Not to check something off your list. Just to exist in the world while it’s doing its most beautiful thing.
From the book:
- Look at flowers (No. 148) β “Notice all the beauty and diversity you can find.” Spring has literally designed the perfect opportunity for this one.
- Walk barefoot in grass (No. 63) β “Feel the earth beneath your feet.” Grounding is real, and fresh spring grass is the best version of it.
- Watch sunlight dance through trees (No. 156) β “Literally one of the most beautiful things in the world and you can catch it daily.”
- Listen to bird songs (No. 274) β “Your brain is wired to feel safe when it hears birds singing.” Spring mornings are basically free sound therapy.
- Hang out by water (No. 123) β “Wear your favorite swimsuit and jump in. Don’t be afraid to get your hair wet.”
- Get some sunshine (No. 190) β “Soak up that vitamin D, baby.” Yes, this is literally in the book and yes, it counts as a wellness practice.
More ideas for spring:
- Leave your phone inside and sit on your porch for 10 minutes with a cup of coffee
- Find a trail you’ve never hiked and go exploring
- Start a container garden β even one herb counts
- Get up to watch a sunrise
- Go to a farmers market and buy something you’ve never cooked before
I’ve been getting outside way more lately β beach days, long walks with the pup, golf dates with friends β and honestly, it has changed my whole mood. There is something about fresh air and movement that no amount of productivity can replicate. Get outside. It’s free and it works.
π BODY: Wake It Up After Winter
Your body has been in slower mode. That’s not a failure β that’s what bodies are supposed to do in winter. But now it’s time to start moving in ways that feel good, not punishing. Think of it less as a fitness reset and more as a full-body stretch into the new season.
From the book:
- Morning stretches (No. 251) β “Pay attention to your muscles and check in with your body before starting your day.” This is such an underrated way to start a spring morning.
- Big stretch (No. 4) β “Feel those muscles relax.” Sometimes the simplest stuff is the best stuff.
- Dance in the kitchen (No. 3) β Suggested songs include LANY’s Dancing in the Kitchen, Flo Rida’s My House, and Sam Hunt’s House Party. Hit me up with other songs that you love for kitchen dance parties.
- Sweat (No. 82) β “Let the endorphins flow freely.” However you want to do it β it counts.
- Drop your shoulders (No. 324) β “You probably didn’t even realize they were tensed up.” Right?! Do it right now. Big release.
- Check in with your body (No. 360) β “Scan how you are feeling from head to toe. Where are you tense?” Spring is a great time for a full physical reset.
More ideas for spring:
- Sign up for a 5K or fun run β having something to move toward is motivating
- Try a new outdoor workout: paddleboard yoga, beach volleyball, cycling a new trail
- Schedule that check-up you’ve been putting off β spring is a natural reset for health too
- Swap your indoor workout for an outdoor one a few times a week
- Start a walking habit with a friend to mix movement and connection
The goal isn’t to go from zero to athlete overnight. It’s to start listening to your body again after a winter of maybe not listening all that much.

π± GROWTH: Plant Something Intentional
Spring and growth are kind of the whole thing. But growth doesn’t have to mean a total life overhaul. The best growth this season might be quiet β one seed, planted well, tended with care.
From the book:
- Go somewhere new (No. 62) β “Anywhere you have never been before counts for this one.” Novelty is growth. Make it easy.
- Try something new (No. 191) β “Embrace novelty in a small or big way.” Spring is the perfect season to say yes to things you’d normally skip.
- Create a “feel good first” rule (No. 173) β “Do one joyful thing before work. Take a walk in the sunshine, journal for a few minutes…” This one might change your entire season.
- If not now, when? (No. 199) β “Do that thing you have been putting off for one reason or another. Now is the only time that anything can happen.” This one lives rent-free in my head.
- Make a wild life wish list (No. 353) β “Dream really big dreams. Don’t filter yourself or try to be realistic.” Spring energy is the perfect fuel for this exercise.
- Write your future self a letter (No. 366) β “Write a letter from yourself now to your future self.” Do this on the equinox. Seal it. Open it on the first day of fall. Magic.
- Progress over perfection (No. 270) β “You are doing great. Take small actions.” Tape this somewhere you’ll see it.
- Journal for 5 minutes (No. 323) β “Write whatever comes to mind.” Low barrier, high return.
More ideas for spring:
- Pick ONE goal for the season (not ten β one)
- Do a spring brain dump: everything you want, want to try, want to release
- Sign up for a class or workshop in something you’ve been curious about
- Read a book outside β because you can now
- Identify your strengths and lean into your genius all season long
Growth doesn’t have to be loud. A tiny, consistent action repeated over a season is how real change happens. Think less “massive transformation” and more “what would feel good to build?”

β¨ ADVENTURE: Say Yes to More Fun
Spring is peak side-quest season. The weather is cooperating, the energy is there, and the world is genuinely more beautiful right now. There is no excuse not to add more play.
From the book:
- Start a side quest (No. 26) β “Go outside your main responsibilities for an activity solely for the purpose of joy.” Yes. This. All season.
- Go on a microadventure (No. 179) β “Play outside doing something short, simple, cheap and local.” Alastair Humphreys has a whole book on this β look it up if you need inspo.
- Book a short trip (No. 80) β “You don’t have to go away for a week to tap into the benefits of vacation. Get away for a few nights.” A long weekend somewhere new might be exactly what you need.
- Find a hidden gem (No. 130) β “There are lots of random interesting places just waiting to be discovered.” Go looking.
- Dream some wild dreams (No. 267) β “Get a little delulu in the best way.” Seriously. Dream bigger than feels reasonable.
- Plan for future fun (No. 365) β “Schedule something a few months from now or even a few years from now. The anticipation is part of the fun.” Book the trip. It’s waiting for you.
- Have a YOU day (No. 151) β “Start your own tradition of regularly scheduling an insert your name here day. You get to do whatever you want.” A Brigid Day is sacred. Start your own.
More ideas for spring:
- Plan a day trip to a town or neighborhood you’ve never explored
- Try a new outdoor activity: kayaking, pickleball, horseback riding, disc golf
- Go to an outdoor concert, food festival, or local event
- Drive somewhere with the windows down and no destination
- Make a spring bucket list β 10 things you want to experience before summer
One of the most underrated stress relievers is having something fun to look forward to. Spring is made for filling up that pipeline.
π§ CALM: Don’t Skip the Rest
Here’s the thing about spring energy β it can tip into overdrive fast. Growth is exciting. Adventure is fun. But rest is still part of the rhythm. The trees don’t go from bare to full bloom overnight, and neither should you.
From the book:
- Schedule rest time (No. 61) β “If you don’t, your body will eventually make you rest.” This is wisdom. Protect your rest before it gets squeezed out.
- Seek awe (No. 155) β “You’ll know it when you see it.” Spring makes this easy β sunsets, blooming trees, a random osprey doing something impressive.
- Go with the flow (No. 35) β “Let things happen around you without trying to control the outcome.” Not everything needs to be planned.
- Create a grounding micro-ritual (No. 342) β “Pick something under 5 minutes that you can do whenever life feels like it’s too much.” A spring version might be stepping outside, taking three deep breaths, and listening to the birds for a minute.
- Cushion transition times (No. 193) β “Keep some white space in your schedule.” This is so simple and so underused. Build in buffer.
- Find a peaceful place (No. 359) β “Find your happy place.” Where do you feel most at peace in spring? Go there on purpose.
More ideas for spring:
- Eat a meal outside β not at your desk, not rushing. Just eat and enjoy it.
- Open the windows and let the spring air in
- Watch the sunset at least once a week β it takes 10 minutes and it’s worth it
- Do nothing with purpose: sit in the yard, feel the sun, let your mind wander
- Practice Niksen (tip No. 55) β the Dutch art of doing nothing with the purpose to do nothing. Yes, this is allowed. Yes, it counts.
Spring is not a sprint. It’s a season. Give yourself the whole thing to grow into.

π SELF-CARE: Refresh Your Rituals
Seasons are a natural invitation to refresh the habits and rituals that support you. What worked in winter might not be what you need now β and that’s perfect. Swap in something that fits this lighter, brighter time.
From the book:
- Switch up your space (No. 225) β “Remove something. Add something. Move things around.” A spring refresh doesn’t have to be a full renovation. Swap a candle, move a plant, open the blinds.
- Elevate something about your routine (No. 235) β “Make an everyday thing feel more luxurious.” Coffee on the porch instead of at the sink. That counts.
- Green, yellow, red check-in (No. 184) β “Check in on how you are feeling like a stoplight.” Before you rush into spring productivity mode, check in. Where are you actually at?
- Get rid of clothes that don’t fit you (No. 112) β “Thank them for their service and then let them go.” Spring cleaning is real and it helps.
- Do that thing you’ve been procrastinating (No. 260) β “It will probably take less time than you think.” The mental load of carrying it is always worse than doing it.
- Treat yourself to a small luxury (No. 219) β “Tap into the good life.” Fresh flowers, a new candle, a really nice cup of tea. Spring luxury doesn’t have to be expensive.
More ideas for spring:
- Do a full life audit β what’s working, what’s not, what you want more of
- Make your annual health appointments (you know which ones)
- Clear out your phone, email inbox, and anything else that’s been creating low-level noise
- Buy yourself fresh flowers β they will make you irrationally happy
- Try a new wellness activity you’ve been curious about: acupuncture, sound bath, float tank

πΈ Your Spring Equinox Ritual
If you want to mark the season intentionally, here’s a simple ritual to try:
- Go outside. Feel the air. Look around at what’s growing.
- Do a brain dump. Write everything β what you want, what you’re releasing, what you’re ready for.
- Pick one seed to plant. One area of life. One intention. One thing you want to grow.
- Write your future self a letter (tip No. 366). Seal it. Open it September 22nd, the first day of fall.
- Plan one thing to look forward to. Book it. Put it in the calendar. Let yourself have the anticipation.
That’s it. No pressure to overhaul everything. Just a gentle, intentional lean into the season that’s already doing the work for you.
